Lawsuits
In the Evil Parallel Universe there are no lotteries, just lawsuit
opportunities. The Florida St. Petersburg Times reports the following
frivolous lawsuits.
-- A man who sued McDonald's because they failed to warn customers about
the dangers of eating and driving. A man who spilled a milk shake
while driving got distracted and hit his car.
-- The college student who fell out of his third floor window while
"mooning" his friends and then sued the college for not providing
warnings about how dangerous it is to play around near upper-story
windows.
-- A man, fired from GTE for stealing from parked cars in the company's
parking lot and who lifted thousands of dollars from purses in the
office sued GTE upon his dismissal claiming they were discriminating
against the disabled because his actions were due to a chemical
imbalance. He lost.
-- A Florida jury awarded a family $5.2 million for not warning the
family that Miami is a high crime area. The car wasn't even rented in
Miami but across the state in Tampa. An appeal is pending.
AND NOW FOR THE LAST AND THE BEST...
-- A woman sued a company that trains Seeing Eye Dogs because one of the
dogs stepped on her foot in the street. She claims that she suffered
"loss of earning capacity and mental pain and suffering." The case
never made it to court and she, and her attorney, had to donate $1,000
to the Guide Dog company.
